Course Outline
- Lesson 1: How can we store information using code? Students will learn how to store user input as variable and create calculator functions
- Lesson 2: How can we make decisions using code? Students will learn how to store user input as variable and create calculator functions
- Lesson 3: Calculator Presentation
- Lesson 4: How can we make decisions using code? Students will learn about if/else statements and how to build an interactive game.
- Lesson 5: Text-adventure presentation
- Lesson 6: How do we plan and develop the components of a game? Students will learn what an RPG game is and start planning their pokemon-like battle game. They will be focusing on HTML and CSS on day one.
- Lesson 7: How can we determine the ending of a game, how can we provide updates for the user? Students will get more in depth regarding the javascript section of a game. They will code functions for the moves of the characters, updating the character’s health (HP) and sending feedback to the user.
- Lesson 8: How do we innovate a project? Students will finish up their RPG battle games. If they have time they will add a heal button which will increase the characters health(HP)
Requirements
- Web Development (JavaScript, HTML and CSS) Level 1
- A computer (PC, Mac, or Linux).
- A web browser, preferably chrome, and very high-speed internet
- Zoom
Audience
- Kids from ages 7+ and beginners who want to develop their analytical skills and web designing skills
- Parents or teachers who want to help their children develop problem-solving skills
